Rumors had been circulating for some time about the potential departure of Mr. Drew from Kaywa's record label, Highly Spiritual Music, where he had been signed. However, in a previous interview on Hitz FM with Doreen Avio, Mr. Drew refuted these speculations, dismissing them as mere gossip.

Yet, several months into 2023, the talented artist behind the popular song "Shuperu" finally confirmed during an interview on TV3 that he had indeed parted ways with Highly Spiritual Music. He clarified that his decision stemmed from a desire to pursue a new career path and explore fresh opportunities. In his own words, Mr. Drew stated, "Everyone aspires for growth; you can't remain in one place indefinitely. It's about moving forward."

Recently, Kaywa, the CEO of Highly Spiritual Music and a renowned music producer, broke his silence regarding Mr. Drew's departure. Hitz 103.9 FM shared a post on their Twitter page, summarizing Kaywa's explanation.

According to Kaywa, the initial five-year agreement between the label and the singer had reached its conclusion. While the label had intended to continue collaborating with Mr. Drew in the future, he had already made up his mind to explore different opportunities and pursue his own plans. Kaywa further elaborated that Mr. Drew expressed his desire for change, and out of respect for his decision, they had no choice but to allow him to move on.
