In Yvonne Nelson's memoir, she reveals three incidents involving influential men in Nigeria

In Yvonne Nelson's memoir, she reveals three incidents involving influential men in Nigeria who expected her to engage in inappropriate activities with them. These encounters occurred during her time working in the Nigerian film industry.

The first incident involved a popular charismatic preacher who expressed interest in Nelson. Although she resisted his advances, she later learned about allegations of sexual assault against him.

The second encounter was with a politician, who claimed to be a governor or senator, who requested an HIV test from Nelson and suggested she provide a blood sample. She found this disrespectful and shocking, and she firmly refused to comply with his request.

The third incident took place at the palace of a powerful traditional ruler who had promised to support Nelson's Glaucoma Foundation. However, upon arriving at the palace, she found the ruler uninterested in her foundation and instead beckoned her to join him on his bed. She refused and was later compensated for her journey with a share of the dollars the ruler gave to the person who brought her to the palace.

These experiences left Nelson feeling angry, disappointed, and questioning the motives of her associates who facilitated these encounters. She severed her friendship with one of them and raised concerns about their involvement in organizing events for influential men.

It's important to note that these revelations are based on Yvonne Nelson's personal experiences and perspectives, as described in her memoir. They shed light on the challenges faced by some individuals in the entertainment industry and highlight the issue of exploitation and abuse of power.
